I have about 1500 slides, with between 10 and 60 years, all of the memories of parents and children. Trying to scan with the best possible quality, I chose this high-end-scanner, especially for the multi-exposure to work in the dark and its infrared channel, to reduce the dust : the Plustek OpticFilm 8200I SE. What a disappointment! Used in advanced mode with the software accompanying SilverFast SE Plus 8, I do not get, in the best cases, and after touch-up laborious, as images that are dull and without depth. This is grosso modo to the display quality photograph printed on newsprint! Any attempt to improve things even more by playing even more on the contrast, the saturation, and the color does not cause distortions unattractive. With the slide more difficult, for example, scenes shot on overcast days, the scanner locks of authority on the lightest parts, or the overcast sky, captures poorly the average and massacre literally the dark parts. Many of the details disappear. The tools, levels and curves are helpless and do produce distortions of color and contrast really horrible.
